Can’t quite believe that this will be our 5th Annual Walk this year. As always the walk is to celebrate Milly’s Birthday and this year it will be her 16th Birthday.
The walk will take place on Sunday 3rd November 2019 at 12 noon.

Food is provided after the walk for a small donation, and we would love it if you could raise sponsorship for us, although this is not essential.
We would love to see you there at what is one of our more popular events.

March 20th 2017 will be 2 years since Milly had her stem cell transplant. To honour her daughter’s bravery and to raise awareness of the charity and all the children who are diagnosed with a cancer related illness, Milly’s mum will be undertaking a Tandem Sky Dive on 19th March. Milly was so brave throughout her whole cancer journey, not least during her transplant and so to recognise and honour her daughter, Lorraine has decided that every year she will undertake some kind of personal challenge. This challenge will see her jumping 11,000 feet from an aeroplane and reaching speeds of up to 120mph! Lorraine will be joined by a good friend of Milly’s from Ward 84, Melissa Sutton. Melissa was being treated for a rare form of bone cancer at the same time as Milly was being treated and the 2 became good friends keeping each other smiling through the difficult days. Melissa wanted to do something to raise money for Milly’s Smiles and what could be better than jumping from a plane at 11,000 feet!

One year ago, the worst thing that could ever happen to a parent, happened to me. On September 20th 2015 at 9.26am my daughter took her last breath and her heart stopped beating, my heart broke but it carried on beating.
Unless you have lost a child no-one can ever understand the deep soul searing pain that envelops you, your child that you brought into this world has gone, not in this lifetime will you ever again hear their laughter, comfort them and smother them in kisses, wave them off to school, college, watch them fall in love, get married and have their own children. The loss of your child is also the loss of your past, your present and your future.
Since losing Milly, I have learnt the real true value of family and friends, I have seen friends become family, friends who I least expected have been there for me through some very dark heart wrenching times. People surprise you during times when you almost..almost don’t think your going to make it through to the next hour, because the pain is so all consuming and you cannot imagine how life can continue without your child.
Losing a child changes you forever, changes your life forever. I am slowly learning to live a different life.
I don’t post personal feelings often on this page but today is different …the charity to me is personal. Its about Milly. It’s entire ethos is about love, my love for Milly and Milly’s love for life. Milly is the reason the charity is here, and that makes it very personal. The charity, whilst helping families who have been given the devastating news that their child has cancer, also allows me to honour Milly’s life. I can tell her story, speak about how amazing she was and how much love she brought into people’s lives, especially mine. It is truly a privilege to be Milly’s mum, and if given the chance and knowing the painful outcome I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
So today it’s personal…it’s about my daughter Milly ❤️❤️❤️👼❤️❤️❤️
We are holding our 2nd annual sponsored walk on Sunday 6 November 2016 at 11am. Last year this event was hugely successful, thanks to the fantastic support from many people. The walk was the beginning of Milly’s Smiles and we have since gone from strength to strength, making a difference to over 50 families from the North West, whose child has been diagnosed with a cancer related illness.
November 6th is Milly’s 13th birthday we would love you to join us on the walk and celebrate this occasion for Milly. We will be leaving and returning to The Plough, in Great Harwood, the route will be announced within the next few weeks. There will be hot food at the end of the walk for a £1 donation, and of course for all those old enough a well deserved beer!
We would love as many runners as possible to join the event, wearing Milly’s Smiles T-shirts. Milly watched the race last year as it was done for Ward 84 – Millys Ward, and a video was shown of Milly ringing the end of treatment bell. She would be so excited to know that we have a team of runners in her shirts running for her charity.
Our fashion show was a huge success – we have raised over £1660.00. Our compere for the evening Mrs Smith was a total hit with the audiences and had them in the palm of her hand. Dancers and models were very beautiful and professional and put on an amazing display of dances for everyone. A fantastic evening was had by all who came a we thank you so very much for supporting us.
