Last week we held our second SOULS Coffee, Cake & Conversation morning, and what a lovely morning it was.
We welcomed lots of new faces, alongside some familiar ones, and what really struck us was how different everyone’s story was.
Some had lost their child relatively recently, while for others many years had passed. Their children were different ages when they died and the circumstances of their loss were different too.
But none of that mattered.
We talked about our children. We shared memories, thoughts and feelings. There was laughter, there were tears, and there were those moments when somebody said something and you could see others around the table nodding because they simply understood.
Nobody needed to explain their grief or justify how they were feeling.
The support and love that flowed so naturally around the room was incredibly special to see.
SOULS is for anyone who has experienced the loss of a child. It doesn’t matter whether your child was a baby, a teenager or an adult when they died. It doesn’t matter whether your loss was recent or many years ago. They will always be your child, and you will always be their parent.
And, of course, no Coffee, Cake & Conversation morning would be complete without the cake! A huge thank you once again to the wonderful Emily at Honey Bee Bakery, who treated us to another incredible selection of cakes and brownies. They were absolutely delicious and very much appreciated.
Our next SOULS Coffee, Cake & Conversation morning is:
Friday 5th September
10am – 12 noon
If you’ve lost a child and would like to come along, you will be very warmly welcomed. Come on your own, bring someone with you, stay for ten minutes or stay for the whole morning.
There’s no pressure to talk and no expectation to be anything other than exactly where you are that day.
Just coffee, cake, conversation and people who understand.
